I check my email account. I see I have a new spam. (Yes, only the one: the filters work well.)

Do you know how much I enjoy the fact that my obnoxious service provider sends its very own promotional emails straight to its very own spam file???

  • On my default email address I never get spam...but on Gmail account my spam folder has about 400 in it at the moment.

Does anyone ever read their Spam?

And yes - that was delicious irony.

  • The only spam I've read in the last six months was the "Nigerian send-me-money" one, and the "You've won the Italian lottery" one. No, I don't have a thing for international spam. Everybody and their dog had received those - except me! - and I was curious.

I confess I also refuse on principle to read the forwards my mother sends me, with a list of forwarded addresses three times as long as the email itself. Ugh. I especially don't read the ones entitled, "URGENT! NEW VIRUS THAT WILL EAT YOUR COMPUTER, BURN DOWN YOUR HOUSE, AND FUCK YOUR HUSBAND!!! READ AND SEND TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS!!!!!"

She sends me those all. the. time. Which, I suppose, makes her my own personal source of spam.

  • So, how's your Mum, sod the spam?

  • My gmail account gets billions of spam messages every day. My regular account gets very little.

That's too funny about your ironic service provider.

  • John - she's fine. A little angina, for which she will take meds. as necessary. She's home now, and all is well. (Guess I should have said as much before I commenced to griping about her, hmm?) :D

Denguy - I dropped hotmail because of the OUTRAGEOUS amounts of spam I was getting. I get a fair amount in gmail, but the spam filter is much better. I can't recall the last time any spam made it into my inbox. With hotmail, I was culling dozens of spam from the inbox daily. Ugh.

I don't think my regular account has ever gotten more than five pieces in a day, and I can't recall a single time a piece of spam made it into the inbox.

The filters they have are amazing. So much better than five years ago, even two years ago.

  • Do you know - my Mom also sends me loads of FW: stuff and I rarely read them! I loathe all that cutesy, poofy, flowery garbage.
